Materials
12mm waxed cotton rope, spliced and whipped at both ends, vegetable-tanned leather handle saddle-stitched with waxed thread, solid bronze trigger clip. Bronze rather than plated steel because plating wears off a clip in a year and then it rusts.
Care
Rinse the salt off after a beach walk. The wax will wear at the handle end first; a rub with any canvas wax brings it back. Do not machine wash — it strips the wax entirely.
